CALAMBA CITY (PIA) – The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Calabarzon said government aid is ready for dispatch in areas affected by Tropical Storm ‘ENTENG.’
Carlos Eduardo Alvarez III, Office of Civil Defense IV-A Regional Director, said the RDRRMC has placed its Regional Emergency Operations Center under ‘BLUE’ alert status to ensure quick and seamless relief response in affected areas.
“The Regional DRRM Council is on top of the situation. At present, our Regional Emergency Operations Center is on Blue Alert Status and with the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development-CALABARZON, we have already activated our Response Cluster.”
Alvarez added: “We are in close coordination with all the regional-line agencies and our LGUs to ensure provision of necessary humanitarian assistance to our affected population. The government is really working to manage the situation.”
The DSWD Field Office IV-A has been coordinating with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Offices (PSWDO) to ensure that the provisions of for the affected residents are on standby.
Barry Chua, Regional Director of DSWD IV-A, has also advised the City Government of Bacoor to utilize the Family Food Packs in their satellite warehouses as provisions for the affected families. Other LGUs with prepositioned food and non-food items are also preparing relief packs that will be distributed in the affected areas.
In its report, OCD IV-A logged 1,455 families or 5,358 individuals currently taking temporary shelter in evacuation centers across the Provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon. (PB/PIA-4A; with reports from OCD CALABARZON)
