DHSUD expresses commitment to resolve HOA issues

MANILA, (PIA) — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Tuesday expressed its full commitment to resolve issues faced by members of Homeowners Associations (HOAs).

During the 18th edition of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas media forum, hosted by the Presidential Communications Office and the Philippine Information Agency National Capital Region, Atty. Norman Jacinto P. Doral, Director of the DHSUD Regional Office NCR assured the public that their agency is alway open “to settle” conflicts between complainants and respondents whenever possible.

If there are HOA issues, you can always come to DHSUD NCR, and we will try to settle those matters through conciliation and mediation,” he said.

To date, there are close to 9,000 HOAs affiliated with DHSUD in National Capital Region.

To file a complaint you can visit or write the agency, at the DHSUD Building, Kalayaan Avenue, corner Mayaman Street, Diliman, Quezon City, 1101

You can also call their hotlines at: 8424 40 70 | 0961-137-0196; or email the agency: info@dhsud.gov.ph.

Doral also addressed concerns regarding the legality of unregistered HOAs collecting fees from their members.

The problem is that if an HOA is not registered with DHSUD, you cannot file a complaint with us, and we cannot extend our jurisdiction to assist you,” he explained.

The forum highlighted the importance of proper registration and governance for HOAs to ensure that members have access to legal support and resolution mechanisms.

The official also encouraged HOA members to seek registration to safeguard their rights and enable the DHSUD to assist them effectively.

As the forum concluded, officials reiterated the significance of HOAs in maintaining community standards and fostering cooperation among residents, urging all associations to comply with registration requirements for better governance and support. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
