CALAMBA CITY (PIA) – The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) IV-A launched a seminar on gender mainstreaming to address gender concerns in the cooperatives in the fourth district of Laguna.
Last January 17, twenty-six (26) cooperatives in the province participated in the seminar-workshop on Compliance of Cooperatives with GAD Inspection Findings. The CDA IV-A said it hopes to address unequal allocation of power, resources, and opportunities in the cooperative sector.
The CDA IV-A conducted an inspection where it was found that the majority of the cooperatives in the 4th district have deficiencies in Gender and Development (GAD) compliance.
Through this seminar, the CDA aims to address gender concerns among cooperatives by helping cooperatives craft their GAD Policy Manual, Plans, and Budget.
In a press release, the CDA explained that they aim to advance gender equality in the cooperative sector by ensuring that everyone is given an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from cooperative activities. It also emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of cooperatives. (PB/CDA Region IV-A EO)
