CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has cited the local government unit (LGU) of this city as 2024 Lunsod Lunsad Awardee for championing creativity and innovation.
DTI-Calabarzon Assistant Regional Director Revelyn Cortez said in an interview on Wednesday that the Lunsod Lunsad Award is the agency’s way of boosting competitiveness and creativity among cities across the country.
He said Calamba got the award because of the impressive culinary presentations amid a lake scenery during the ”Calambagong Fiesta: Taste, Style and Creativity Fair” held during the Buhayani Festival last June.
Cortez said that out of more than 160 cities that submitted their projects and activities for this award, 63 cities qualified, of which seven are in Calabarzon and one of them was Calamba City.
She added Calamba City will receive a cash incentive of PHP1.275 million to fund its identified creative projects starting September until November this year only through the city’s Cultural Affairs, Tourism and Sports Development Office (CATSDO).
“We would like to find out what other creative projects here in Calamba City that will help boost its competitiveness in the region or in the country,“ Cortez said.
“DTI is willing to work with them (CATSDO) in realizing their lined-up projects,” she added. (PNA)
