Inflation Rate recorded at 1.8 percent in CALABARZON for the month of September 2024

[Lipa City, Batangas] – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) CALABARZON reported the September 2024 inflation in the region via hybrid press conference last 07 October 2024. Officer-in-Charge of Statistical Operations and Coordination Division, Ms. Charity O. Bautista, announced that the prices of commodities in the region increased by 1.8 percent, which is lower than the 3.2 percent rise in prices observed in August.

The lower inflation rate (IR) observed in September 2024 compared to August 2024 was due to the slower increase in prices of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, with 0.5 percent IR, from 2.8 percent in August.

Also, contributing to the decrease in inflation were the slower increase of prices of Transport and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels commodity groups which were recorded at -1.2 and 2.6 percent, respectively.

Compared to the inflation rates recorded in the provinces and highly urbanized city (HUC) of CALABARZON in August 2024, all areas in the region experienced slower increase of prices of goods and services in September 2024. Batangas registered an IR of 1.5 percent, from 2.8 percent in August 2024; Cavite had an IR of 0.1 percent, from 1.6 percent in August 2024; Laguna posted an IR of 2.4 percent, from 3.2 percent in August 2024; Quezon recorded an IR of 3.3 percent, from 5.1 percent in August 2024; City of Lucena had an IR of 3.5 percent, from 4.7 percent in August 2024; and Rizal reported an IR of 3.0 percent, from 4.6 percent in August 2024.
