Inflation Rate recorded at 4.0 percent in CALABARZON for the month of July 2024  

[Lipa City, Batangas] – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) CALABARZON reported the July 2024 inflation in the region via hybrid press conference last 12 August 2024. Regional Director Charito C. Armonia announced that the prices of commodities in the region increased by 4.0 percent, which is higher than the 3.3 percent rise in prices observed in June.

Higher increase in prices for Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels commodity group compared to the previous month’s rate contributed to the acceleration in the overall inflation rate (IR). Increase in price for Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels was recorded at an average of 2.5 percent. Also, contributing to the increase in inflation were increasing prices of Education services and Transport commodity groups which were recorded at 4.4 and 3.6 percent, respectively.

Likewise, higher increase in prices of commodities were recorded in all provinces of the region and one highly urbanized city, that is City of Lucena, except for the province of Batangas. Rizal posted the highest inflation of 5.4 percent, from 3.8 percent inflation in June 2024. Cavite posted an IR of 2.2 percent, from 2.0 percent in June; Laguna at 3.9 percent, from 2.2 percent in June; Rizal at 5.7 percent, from 4.7 percent in June; Quezon posted an IR of 5.7 percent, from 5.3 percent in June; and City of Lucena posted an IR of 5.2 percent, from 4.9 percent in June. On the contrary, Batangas posted an IR of 3.5 percent, from 3.9 percent in June.
